Did the ancients have the Internet?
Quiet, I'm trying to sleep
It's been a long day
I'm waiting for the sands
And the years to bury me

The hearse was delayed
En route to the grave
A truck of frozen fish
Had overturned on the highway
We waited at the necropolis
With family we barely even knew
Some kids, running round, found a headstone
From 1792 and were very very excited
That's a long time ago for them

Though the day was quite cold
Those four thousand boxes of frozen fish
Would never ever reach the supermarket aisles
I can see all the gulls circling the emergency workers
Quiet, I'm trying to sleep

So, did the ancients have the Internet?
Or is that just another impossible thing?
Maybe jamais vu, where everything is new,
Even if you've seen it before?
I miss you already, just another century or more
How long till we're stars again
Or at least the dust of them,
Minding our own business,
At the speed of anything could happen?
