After Honey

You were in my dream last night
We had a creature
It wasn't yours
And it could not have been mine

It was ingeniously sweet
So we named it after honey
It was 1918 or 2020
There was no identifying technology

Though we weren't
Mentioning the war
There was a lot of fight in you
And a lot of flight in me
And if we smiled at Honey
Well it only
Wanted more

You were in my dream last night
I never dream
But it was you alright
Though it was dark at the time

The creature's growing bigger
Elbows at the cornices
Toes against the windows
And looking down on us
All the neighbors were whispering

Though we weren't
Mentioning the war
There was a lot of fight in you
And a lot of flight in me
And if we smiled at Honey
Well it only
Wanted more

You were in my dream last night
I didn't know you
From a star in the night sky
But we were getting by

With our creature filling up the sky
And learning how to speak
When someone says
I love you
Is as tall as the oldest tree
You kinda never wanna wake up

Though we weren't
Mentioning the war
There was a lot of fight in you
And a lot of flight in me
But if we smiled at Honey
Well it only
Wanted more
