Over Heard

Her daughters use that
Other-room
Under-blanket tone
When heard to say

She's losing it

There's a ringing carried on the air
And she knows they're using
The three blue cups
And Ned Kelly souvenir spoon
Bought in Myrtleford
September nineteen eighty two
John in the telephone booth
Making some arrangements
The Kelvinator fan on the store counter
Wafer plastic strips
Tied to its grill

Red Green Blue

Ecstatic in their tiny sphere of cool
Like painted eels on a treadmill
