Beige Men

The beige men bob
Like boats in boxes
On the brine

They watch their watches
Warily for witchcraft
Between the hours of
Else- and any-time

The beige men build bridges
Above the middle
But never to the sides

They borrow the bolts
From the boats in the boxes
Which have beached upon the tide

The beige men
The men of beige
The beige of men
Cannot be caged

When other colours
Have been assuaged
Beware the rise
Of the men of beige
